Kuber’s Origin and Birth

Kuber’s Father and Mother

Kuber’s father was Sage Vishrava, and his mother was Devavarnini. Following his father’s advice, Kuber decided to abstain from marriage and procreation for the development of the universe. His father disowned him for this act. However, Lord Brahma, took him under his care. Thus, Kuber is considered a son of Lord Brahma.

Original Name and Background

Kuber was originally named Vaishravana, because he is the son of Vishrava. He is also known as the guardian of the North (Dik-pala).

Wife of Kuber 

According to Puranas and Mahabharat Kuber’s wife is known as Bhadra (or Kauberi). She is often depicted alongside Kuber, sharing in his duties and responsibilities.

Children of Kuber

Kuber and Bhadra have several children, among whom Nalakuvara (or Nalakubara) is the most famous. Nalakuvara is known for his encounter with Lord Krishna in Hindu mythology.
