Mahashivratri falls on the 14th day of the lunar month. This day is known as Chaturdashi. Lunar month is divided into two parts. One is Krishna Paksha which is dark fortnight and the other one is Shukla Paksha which is bright fortnight. Mahashivratri falls during the Krishna paksha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This festival falls in the month of Phalguna.
