Sharad Purnima – End Debt & Gain Financial Blessings from Goddess Lakshmi

If you feel that you are burdened with debt. Or if you are having difficulty retaining money and end up spending it as soon as you get it. We understand that creating long-lasting wealth takes time. But did you know that our Shastras have the remedy for this problem?

Sharad Purnima is considered a day even more auspicious than Diwali to pray to Goddess Lakshmi who will shower you with unimaginable blessings. We recommend that you follow these easy steps one day. You will surely see the results immediately afterward.

A little about this special day:
It is said that Goddess Lakshmi and Chandra Dev were both birthed from Samudra Manthan. That is why one of the ways to attract their blessings are to include things that come from the sea. Like a conch, seashells, kowdis etc.

Doing Puja and making offerings on this day in the presence of Lakshmi and Chandra Dev is believed to bring you blessings manyfold. It is done right after twilight, and in order to make your Puja and vrat a success, you must stay awake till late in the night because this occasion is also known as Kojaagri (meaning who is awake?).

It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi comes to visit those who stay awake as a symbol of their devotion. She brings blessings to those who are able to follow the next steps. Keep reading to follow the simple procedure.

Puja Vidhi
– Wake up early this morning

– Clean your house thouroughly. Especially the main entrances.

– Take a bath and wear clean clothes

– At the Pravesh Dwaar (entrance) of your home, you can make a swastika with haldi or kumkum. Burn a deepak and place it along with fresh flowers, roli and honey.
The swastik is a symbol of Lord Ganesha and symbolises auspicious beginnings.

– After this, you should make some donation from your household.
Typically this is done with Brahman bhoj, if you are able to do that.
If not, you can create a potli with dry anaaj and donate that at a temple near you. Don’t forget to include some dakshina with your donation. This is important to please the deities.
It is believed what you donate, comes back to you many fold, so today is an extra special day to do this.

– It is recommended to do vrat the whole day. However, if you are not able to do that, it’s important to have only saatvik meals. (Skip the onion, ginger, garlic), because the main event still awaits and will happen only after sundown.

It’s important to remember that the intention with which to offer prayers on this day is to pray for abundance and not ask for specific objects. After all, blessings have no limits. We pray with a pure heart and intention to please Goddess Lakshmi to with us and guide us through what is to come. Remember, if you want to become debt-free do not sleep on this day.

These next steps are where the real important part of the Puja begins:

– Wear Red clothes and place a red aasan before beginning the evening prayers.

– Prepare kheer at your home early in the evening and make sure that is cooled down before making your offering. Never offer hot kheer to Chandra dev.

– At around 9:00 PM, put the kheer in a silver vessel and place it on the terrace, balcony, entrance or anywhere that is exposed to ample moonlight. Don’t forget to cover the vessel with something to make sure to critters or bugs spoil the offering.

– Remember what we said about the seashells, conch & kowdi? Time to bring them out, give them a thorough washing. Do Abhishek for these kowdis with gangajal, roli and haldi. This is the part that pleases Lakshmi the most, as it reminders her of her sea-home and she will be inclined to visit your house.

As you can see, this Puja includes venerating both, Chandra Dev with white food and silverware and also Godess Lakshmi with the auspicious red garments and donations and her favourite kowdis.

– The moonlight on this light is said to have magical healing properties. Also known as Amrit Varsha. It is said to help you alleviate diseases, bring healing, especially for those going through mental afflictions like stress, tension, anxeity. All these are common in the modern life, so this once a year special event should not be missed. It is meant for people of all ages and can be done by males, females, anyone with pure intentions!

– The Sankalp for this Puja is done sitting on the aforementioned asana. Close your eyes, do dhyan and pray to goddess lakshmi by saying your Name, Place and gotra.

The test of the real devotee begins here.
Remember how we said this day is called kojaagri (who is awake).
This night Goddess Lakshmi will visit your home late in the night to see who is awake. And only those that pass this test of remaining awake will have their Puja be considered a success! So don’t sleep!

You may go to sleep by 2 AM.
