Masik Shivaratri 2024 (What is Masik Shivaratri)

The Sanskrit word “Masik” means “monthly,” indicating that this celebration happens once every month. It is different from the Maha Shivaratri, which occurs yearly on the fourteenth day of the waning moon in Phalgun month.
Difference Between Masik Shivaratri and Maha Shivaratri:
- Masik Shivaratri: Occurs once every month.
- Maha Shivaratri: Celebrated once a year, usually in the month of Phalgun.

Rituals of Masik Shivaratri 2024
Early Morning Rituals
- Rise early, preferably before sunrise, to meditate on Lord Shiva.
- Take a bath and wear clean, new clothes.
- Adorn yourself with a Rudraksha mala.
Temple Visit and Shiva Linga Ritual
