Hartalika Teej 2024 Katha
The name translates to “kidnapping by an acquaintance.”
In ancient times, there existed a deity known as Parvati. Her desire was to wed Lord Shiva, however her father preferred for her to marry a different suitor. In order to assist Parvati, her friend whisked her off to a hidden location to prevent her father from forcing her into an unwanted marriage.
Parvati had a lot of determination. With deep reverence, she offered her prayers to Lord Shiva. In the end, Lord Shiva was pleased and agreed to marry her.
Hartalika Teej is the name given to this day because Parvati was assisted in her escape by her friend. It’s a day to honour the strength of friendship and a woman’s powerful desires.
Thus, Hartalika Teej 2024 narrates a tale of one friend assisting another friend, in addition to a woman’s affection and allegiance to the deity she desired to wed.
