Maa Mahagauri Story
After defeating all the demons, the skin of Maa Parvati was left with dark skin. Knowing this, Lord Brahma told Maa Parvati to take a bath in the Mansarovar river in the Himalayas. Following the advice of Brahma, Mata Parvati took a bath in this river.
The moment she begins bathing, her dark skin separates and she takes the form of Kaushiki regaining her fair complexion. She becomes white as a Jasmine flower and wears white colour clothes.
She has four arms each holding a trident, damaru and the other two in dhyana and abhaya mudras. She is nine years old which is the reason why we do kanya pujan for 9 year old girls.
